Brief Profile: Amit Kumar heads the Corporate Responsibility and Communications functions for Cummins in India. In his additional capacity, he is the Chief of Staff to the Managing Director of Cummins India Limited. In his role as the Corporate Responsibility Leader, Amit is responsible for all the projects undertaken towards sustainable community improvement under the three focus areas of Higher Education, Energy and Environment, and Equality of opportunity. Additionally, he was the sponsor of the Global Analytics Center. Amit’s association with Cummins dates to 2007. Since then Amit has led different businesses such as Distribution Business, Power Generation, including Cummins Generator Technologies. Taking the businesses on a higher performance trajectory, he has been instrumental in the fruition of emissionized products and global programs as well as strengthening the Cummins dealership network. He has championed critical processes such as Value Package Introduction, Product Quality Committee and Supply Chain excellence. Prior to joining Cummins, Amit worked with CEAT Ltd. (RPG Group) in Mumbai as Vice President – Human Resource, involving assorted functions such as Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Strategic Planning and Corporate Communications. Starting his career with Tata Administrative Service (TAS) in 1986, he has worked for a decade with Tata Motors, in various Sales and Marketing roles. He was instrumental in supporting key initiatives for the launch of Mercedes-Benz operations in India. Amit holds a Bachelor in Mathematics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, with a Masters in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics. Amit pursued his Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Marketing & Finance) from the Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata. An avid reader, he enjoys watching movies, listening to music and cooking.
