Executive Summary: Vishalya Foods and Farms Pvt Ltd works on the Farm-to-Fork model for which it partners with farmers and trains them to manage production on their land. The produce is then supplied directly to the end consumers.
Market need: There are 3 major problems Indian Agriculture is facing currently 1. Incessant use of chemicals: The use of chemicals has reached to an alarming level. We use chemicals to sterilize soil, as fertilizer, Pesticides and Weedicides. Food is certainly becoming poisonous and soil is turning infertile fast. 2. Ever increasing cost of production: Today the cost of production is as high as 60 – 70% of the price farmer gets. This is going up further as the soil is turning barren and pests are becoming resistant 3. Exclusion of farmers from value chain: Today, the price farmer gets is driven by Mandi and has no correlation to the cost incurred by the farmer. Opposite to this, people further up in the value chain mostly get a premium over cost of purchase To sail through the challenges, we have decided to 1. Grow organic vegetables by creating pool of land by partnering with farmers. We actively manage crops in this land pool to match Demand and Supply 2. Reduce the cost of production by preparing all the inputs locally. It enables us to reduce input cost burden on farmers and widens his profit margins 3. Take our produce to consumers directly. It helps both the sides i.e. Farmers and Consumers as the flat structure saves revenue leakage
