The North-East Accelerator Program (NEAP), aimed at recognizing potentially game-changing early-stage entrepreneurs from North-East India and creating a supportive ecosystem to help them scale up their businesses. This unique initiative brought together the key stakeholders in the regional entrepreneurship ecosystem including start-ups, investors, mentors and subject matter experts to help unlock the huge potential of the North Eastern states by unleashing the innovative energy of the emerging entrepreneurs of the region. This would have multiple benefits – create many more employment opportunities, reduce or reverse migration of local youth, energize the local business ecosystem, help facilitate the socio-economic development of the region, etc.
The accelerator program, which is a result of collaboration among IIM Calcutta Innovation Park (IIMCIP) and Department of Science and Technology, Government of India identified and helped early stage entrepreneurial innovations to scale across the North East India. This program provided the identified start-ups the opportunity of intensive mentoring and training from the pool of experts on various aspects of business and helped them mature and establish not only in the region but also beyond. This platform also helped the start-ups to connect to the market and investors and gain visibility in the ecosystem.
IIM Calcutta Innovation Park (IIMCIP) is a not for profit company set up under the aegis of IIM Calcutta to promote entrepreneurship and innovation and established itself as a premier hub of entrepreneurship development in East and North East India.
